Skidamarink
(Great!) Grandma,
Well, my last letter to you was about my pregnancy and this year I get to tell you about the incredible child we have been blessed with!
Our son, John Daniel, was born at 1:31 pm on August 8, 2016. There were a few complications, but in the end both him and I were healthy and he has continued to thrive.
We named him John after Ben's Dad and Daniel as his middle name after my brother.
Our sweet Johnny is such a delight! He is always smiling and laughing and happiness just exudes from this little guy. His joyful countenance reminds me so much of you. He brightens our world and anyone who meets him, just like you did.
I wish I could talk to you about teething and crawling and recipes and learn fun songs to sing to him from you. But you still show up in little ways, like when I sing Skidamarink to him, he laughs and giggles and I think about how loved I felt by you.
Love you always!
Rachel

Remembering MOM
-2017-
Mom,
I am a Grandpa ! I can’t believe it! I Soooo wish you were here to enjoy your great grandchild. (Actually great-grand-children but that is a story for your son Jerry to tell) I believe you can see him but I wish you were here with us to play, laugh and hold him. This was another tough year for your family. As we all must leave this life Dads passing was another eye opener. I remember you saying that when you lose your parents you become an orphan. At the time I thought that was silly but now I understand. I get it. Thanks for saying that because it helps me understand it is all part of the circle of life.
You would be glad to know how your family rallied to support Dad in his time of need, especially Jerry/Rose and Danny, Sue and Marie as they were able to provide the support Dad needed to stay in his house til he passed away there too. Most recently family (think Jerry/Rose) were able to sell our home to a member of our extended Irish clan that will start a new FAMILY in that home: 8910 Ruth, Allen Park Mi 48101 lives on!
And guess what her name is, Kathleen!!!!
Love you always.
Jimmy

Letter from Susie - March 17, 2017
Dear Mom,
It is March 1st 2017. We have been without you for 14 years and miss you so much. This past year has been hard on all of us. Now that Dad is up in heaven with you ( I am guessing you threw him a rope and pulled him through), we have had to prepare to sell our family home. Once again, Jerry was able to make the transition easier on us by working out a way for your great niece (Kathleen Tyitye) to buy the house. We all pitched in when we could to help get it ready to sell, and on Monday Feb. 27th Kathleen and Steven took ownership. I am really happy that the home we grew up in is still going to be in the family. I think it made this a little easier to accept.
Mom & Dad, you sacrificed so much for your family and made our home a safe haven. A place to feel welcomed, a place of comfort, and happy times. I miss you both and in many ways feel empty without you. Please keep watching over us ,and keep our family connected and supportive of each other.
Missing you,
Susie
